Discover Alfrea, the social enterprise that resembles Airbnb for community gardening

around the corner” is a PhillyCAM show that offers local social impact leaders the opportunity to share the impact of their work on the Philadelphia area.

If you belong to one of the more than 40 million households in the United States who garden for food, you should probably know Alfrea.

The New Jersey-based, year-long social enterprise connects budding gardeners to open garden space as well as locally grown food in their communities.

The online platform also connects people with excess resources with those looking for resources. Got a big backyard that would be perfect for someone else’s herb garden? Are you looking to sell the surplus tomatoes that your harvest produced last season? Alfrea can help you.

“What Airbnb made for the bedroom, we try to make for the earth,” Lindsey Ricker, head of customer engagement at Alfrea, told us during his “Around the Corner” interview. Learn more below.
